Riverside Public Utilities 2018 Public Benefits Annual Report

Published: 12/18/2018

For over 18 years, Riverside Public Utilities has provided its residential and commercial electric customers a variety of public benefit programs that can help make homes and businesses more energy efficient in the City of Riverside.
Public Benefit funds may only be spent in the four program areas listed below.

Low Income Assistance: More than 4,300 residential customers benefitted from our Sharing Households Assist Riverside’s Energy (SHARE) program this year, which helps qualified low-income residential customers with their electric utility bills.

Energy Efficiency: Our energy efficiency programs for fiscal year 2016-2017 helped our customers reduce energy use by more than 22 million kilowatt hours - enough energy to power approximately 2,444 homes for a year!

Research, Development & Demonstration: This past year, RPU provided local businesses and universities with over $255,000 in funding through our grant programs to conduct important research, development, and demonstration of energy efficiency.

Renewable Energy: Through the continued support of our Solar Photovoltaic Rebate Programs, Riverside has seen exponential growth in commercial and residential solar projects, which now produce more than 34 megawatts of clean solar power every day.
