Control Treatment for Adult Mosquitoes

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM NORTHWEST MOSQUITO & VECTOR CONTROL DISTRICT

Due to the detection of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, more commonly known as the yellow fever mosquito , the District will perform a larval mosquito spray treatment on September 21, 2018. The Aedes aegypti mosquito is an invasive mosquito species capable of transmitting several viruses including Zika, chikungunya, and dengue . The spray application will be conducted between the hours of 3:00 am to 5:00 am at the following location; the residential neighborhood located in Riverside between Palm Ave. and Magnolia Ave., and north of Bandini Ave. Please see attached image for exact spray route.

The District will be treating this area with Vectobac WDG  (EPA Reg. 73049-56), which is a naturally occurring bacterium approved for use in mosquito control by the US EPA and labeled for organic crops.  This application is intended to treat standing water sources within the community and target immature mosquitoes before they are able to fly off. The mosquito control application will be performed with a truck mounted ground fogger. Signs are being posted on September 19th., 2018 in the areas that will be sprayed to inform the public of our activities.  Information regarding the treatment will be posted on our website at www.northwestmvcd.org.
